Peaty Nose is delighted to be working with Twin River Distillery and Deeside Brewery.
As part of this collaboration we are also delighted to be launching the School of Gin in Banchory.
This is an exciting project where you can learn all about gin – its history, the various styles and most importantly all about the botanicals. Once we have covered the background we will then go on to roll our sleeves up and help you make your very own bottle of gin.
This bottle will be to your own recipe and for you to take away. Not only that, but we will hold your recipe so that you can re-order your bespoke gin whenever you are running low.
We have a 10am start with a meet and greet over coffee, then we will take you through the murky, but engaging, history of Gin – Its beginnings, the Gin Craze, the Prohibition Era and ending in the present day with Gin’s Renaissance.
We will take you through the process of making and distilling from grain to glass.
Having learnt the process, it’s time to start planning your gin recipe so it’s back to the drawing board. We will discuss the different styles of Gin, over a gin and tonic, and introduce you to the botanicals, who will be the stars of the show. After a detailed explanation of how to choose the various botanicals that will be the signature of the gin you are about to create we will break for lunch.
After lunch, we will assist you in blending and crafting various botanicals together to create your unique gin and then you will use your individual still to distill your own gin. All the time you will keep notes so that your final recipe can enter our vault allowing for additional bottles to be re-ordered in the future.
After an enjoyable and fun interactive day, you will be waved 'Bye-Bye' with your very own signature gin after attending Scotland’s first Grain-to-Glass School of Gin.
The School of Gin will launch its courses in 2018, initially on a monthly basis, with places from 10 to 15 people. Tickets will be £100 per person.
The School will also be available for private lessons for bespoke gin for weddings and favours, corporate and special events, re-union special editions and all sorts of other group events. Contact for special events and pricing.
The School of Gin will also host Masterclasses in mixology, in conjunction with Dusk Bar in Aberdeen as well as running Pop-Up events from Peaty Nose that take you further into the wonderful World of Gin.
